Kommunkoreografer 2025/2026
Uddevalla municipality
The Kommunkoreografer project, or municipal choreographers, is a one-year dance residency with the aim of creating dance experiences and opportunities in new and sometimes unusual contexts. The theme for 2025/26 is " I rörelse" (“in movement”) with the goal to set the body and mind will in motion. Through an inclusive approach that focuses on creativity and the joy of movement.
From September 1, 2025, to August 31, 2026, the Kommunkoreografers will invite residents and visitors to the municipality to a variety of unique dance events.
Expect to encounter them in unexpected places and in creative forms—dance comes to you!

Our vision
Everyone has movement within them
We see dance as a human right, something that all people have within them, regardless of body type, background, or previous experience. Broad participation is not just an ambition, but the very core of the project. We want to reach out to the whole of Uddevalla – not just those who already dance, but perhaps above all those who have never had the chance or never really dared to.
Reaching a wider audience with dance as an art form has been Yellow Jacket Collective's driving force since its inception. What does it take for dance to become a natural part of people's everyday lives? What makes someone feel at home in a dance hall, in the audience, or on stage? We dream of a future where going to a dance performance is as natural as going to a concert or museum. We see our role as municipal choreographers as an opportunity to immerse ourselves in community dance as a way of approaching these questions.

By working on site, in everyday spaces—schools, workplaces, meeting rooms, and public spaces—we build trust, connection, and security. In this way, we also hope to contribute to Uddevalla's vision of being a safe and creative municipality where residents thrive. Placing
The project will culminate with a film, a portrait of the year when Uddevalla danced. A copy of the film will be sealed in a time capsule and opened in a 100 years, a testimony in motion for the generations to come.
This is not just a dance project—it is a collective memory. A creative imprint. A declaration of love for the place we inhabit and the people who bring it to life.
